As a Hospice Music Therapist, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide personalized music therapy interventions that help patients manage symptoms, reduce anxiety, and express emotions. You will also support family members through grief and offer spiritual and emotional comfort during the end-of-life process.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment.

Additional Responsibilities: (may include any combination of these duties)

• Conduct personalized assessments of patients' emotional, psychological, and physical needs to develop tailored music therapy plans.
• Lead individual and group music therapy sessions, utilizing music to help manage pain, stress, and emotional distress.
• Provide emotional and spiritual support through music, helping patients express themselves and find peace at the end of life.
• Support families and caregivers with therapeutic music sessions, helping them cope with grief and loss.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary hospice team to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
• Document therapy progress and ensure compliance with hospice policies and regulatory standards.
• Educate families and staff about the benefits of music therapy in hospice care.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelors degree or higher in Music Therapy or a related field.
• Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) or relevant certification.
• Experience in hospice, palliative care, or working with terminally ill patients preferred.
• Proficiency in at least one musical instrument (e.g., guitar, piano, voice).
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on empathy, active listening, and emotional support.
• Ability to collaborate with a team and provide holistic care for patients and families.
• Compassionate, patient, and resilient demeanor when dealing with end-of-life care.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Experience in grief support or bereavement counseling.
• Knowledge of palliative care and its integration with music therapy.
• Experience working in a healthcare or hospice setting.

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends

• Iowa City, IA: Relocate before starting work (Required)
