The Mechanical Technician will support the mechanical design, development, and testing of products within the Division from the concept stage through its full product lifecycle.The Mechanical Technician supports Research and Development with a high level of creativity and works collaboratively across the organization.This position demands a high level of accountability to ensure the product is delivered on time and meets the requirements of the patient, product, and business.Duties and responsibilities•Follows good laboratory practices and is competent in executing both formal and informal testing and generates test reports/documentation in a timely fashion•Uses CAD software to design fixtures for testing individual parts, full systems, cable assemblies, and garments•Prototypes design concepts using 3D printing, machining, molding, hands-on fabrication•Possesses soldering skills to prototype/fabricate electrical assemblies and cables•Defines, plans, and executes project related deliverables while effectively communicating to the appropriate stakeholders within the organization•Conducts product failure investigations, Root Cause Analysis, and Design of Experiments (DOE) activities•Contributes to engineering Verification/Validation activitiesQualificationsQualifications include:•Associate Degree in Engineering or ASMET (BSMET also can be considered) (or related technical field) or 3-5 years of direct work experience without formal education•Position expects 5 years of experience with INSTRON or equivalent tensile testers
