Job Description

Job Title: HR Generalist (Recruiting Focus) – Nonprofit

Location: Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA), CA

Schedule: Contract-to-Hire

Pay Range: $60,000–$75,000 annually (DOE)

About the Role:

LHH is seeking an experienced and dedicated HR Generalist with a strong background in recruiting to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization located in Downtown Los Angeles . This is a contract-to-hire opportunity ideal for a human resources professional passionate about people operations and making an impact in the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new hires across multiple departments.
  • Partner with department managers to assess staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance improvement, and compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support HR programs such as training & development, DEI, and wellness.
  • Contribute to a positive organizational culture aligned with the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of HR Generalist experience with a strong emphasis on recruiting.
  • Previous experience working in or with nonprofit organizations highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and recruitment platforms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, BambooHR, or similar).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
